The Texas Justice Center proudly congratulates Alan F. and Diane R. Levin on their commitment to excellence in legal education and mediation. On February 3, 2025, faculty, alumni, and friends of the University of Houston Law Center gathered to celebrate the Levins and the naming of the Alan F. and Diane R. Levin Mediation Clinic during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The celebration marked the culmination of the Levins’ $1.25 million gift to the Law Center—an investment that will strengthen and expand hands-on mediation training for UH law students. The event featured remarks from several community leaders including Dean Leonard Baynes, Judge John Wooldridge and attorney Ben Hall, each reflecting
on how the Levins’ generosity will continue to shape the future of peaceful dispute resolution across Texas and beyond.

A 1969 UH Law Center graduate, Alan Levin has played a defining role in the growth of mediation within the Texas legal system. Over nearly four decades, he has handled just under 11,000 cases, earning a reputation as a legendary figure in shaping mediation in Texas. Today, Mr. Levin continues his distinguished ADR career by maintaining his offices and conducting mediations and arbitrations at the Texas Justice Center facility in Bellaire, where his work continues to inspire colleagues, students, and clients alike.

Levin believes that, “The peaceful resolution of conflict is the world’s most powerful hope for long-term stability and prosperity.” Levin reminds all of us not to overlook the Biblical injunction “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” This message perfectly captures the mission and spirit which inspired the new
clinic.

The Alan F. and Diane R. Levin Mediation Clinic now stands as a lasting tribute to the Levins’ vision for a future grounded in communication, understanding, respect, and collaboration. The Texas Justice Center is proud to celebrate this milestone and to honor the Levins’ extraordinary leadership and generosity in advancing the practice of mediation throughout Texas.
